Mental Health Break Timer
A free timer built around rest, not hustle: 20 minutes of gentle focus followed by a generous 10 minute break. For World Mental Health Day (10 October) and every ordinary Tuesday when your head is full. No streaks, no scores, no guilt, no account.
Why longer breaks help
Rest is part of the work. Stepping away on a schedule means you don't have to decide when you've "earned" a pause — the timer decides for you, and the decision is always yes.
Guided breathing in every break
On this page the breathing guide is on: when the break
starts, a soft circle grows and shrinks behind the clock and the text paces
you through box breathing — breathe in for 4 seconds, hold
for 4, breathe out for 4, hold for 4. Follow it for a minute
or two, then let your eyes wander. You can switch it on or off for every
timer in the settings (gear icon), or share it with
?breathe=1, e.g.
focus.mawu.ch/25-minute-timer/?breathe=1.
What to do in a 10 minute break
- Stand up, stretch, drink some water.
- Look out of a window and let your eyes focus far away.
- Take five slow breaths, or step outside for a minute.
- Avoid feeds and news — they're not rest for the brain.
